Hi Team,
I just found out that I will be heading out of town on June 15th to go to my daughter's registration at Boston University, so I need to change the date of our first contact day to Thursday, June 23rd, from 9:15-11:30. I hope this day still works for all of you. I can't wait to get things started!
Take care,
Coach Vicki

Summer Contact Days Info
Hi Team!
Things are starting to get exciting around here--both Fall Sports Nights are this month (see the previous post), and before you know it, school will be over, and it will be time for our summer contact days! Contact days give us a chance to do some team building before the season begins on August 9th. They also let Coach K and I do a bit of stroke evaluation and see where people are at, skill-wise. The Appleton West pool gets drained over the summer, so our June and July contact days will be held at Appleton East High School pool. Please wear your swimsuit and bring goggles, a towel, and a water bottle to Appleton East. In addition, we will have one contact day where we will be in the weight room learning our season lifting program. On that day, please wear workout clothes and gym shoes and bring a water bottle.
Here are the dates:
June 23rd 9:15-11:30 at Appleton East Pool
July 6, 18, & 27 9:15-11:30 at Appleton East Pool
August 2nd--meet in the pool lobby at Appleton West, then we will go to the weight room.
Your 2016 captains requested that this year's contact days be spread out over the summer. We hope that some or all of these days will fit into your summer schedule. Contact days are not mandatory, but they are fun, so we hope that you can join us for all 5 of them!
Finally, your captains have planned a fun team trip to Noah's Ark on Tuesday, July 12. All incoming freshmen, current team members, and 2016 grads are welcome to join us! We will rent a bus and head over there together. All the details and a permission slip will be available at both Fall Sports Nights.
As always, you can contact me if you have any question or concerns. My email address is vicki.terlap@gmail.com.
I'm so excited to get the 2016 season started!
Coach Vicki

Upcoming Fall Sports Meetings
Hi AW-K Swimmers & Divers,
It's time to start thinking ahead to the 2016 season! Your captains, the parent board and I have been busy planning for next year--I can't wait! The first thing you need to do is mark your calendars for the upcoming Fall Sports Meetings. All new, incoming, and returning swimmers and divers need to attend.
The Kimberly meeting is on Sunday, May 22nd at 6 pm in the gym.
The Appleton West meeting is on Monday, May 23rd at 6:30 in the auditorium.
Lots of team information will be passed out at those meetings, including meet and practice schedules. We will also share information about summer contact days and our team trip to Noah's Ark. Please plan on attending (and bring a parent)!
Stay tuned for lots and lots of updates to the team blog in the next couple of weeks! If you haven't done so already, make sure you subscribe to the blog so you can get new posts delivered right to your inbox.
Looking forward to 2016!!
Coach Vicki

Meet Misty Hyman (A Fabulous Off-Season Opportunity!)
Hi Team!
I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas! How excited are you for 2016??? I think it's definitely going to be an amazing one for all of us involved with AW-K Girls Swimming & Diving!!
For those of you who don't know, I am working with MWWM on Wednesday nights, and they are hosting an amazing event where you can meet Misty Hyman, 2000 Gold Medialist in the 200m Butterfly. There are two different events--one in the water and one out. If you're interested, you can sign up for one or both sessions. There are a lot of openings for the morning session, but only a handful for the in-water clinic. So, if you're interested, sign up ASAP.

Top Ten Awesome Moments from Saturday
Hi Team!
Holy cow! Saturday's Conference meet was completely amazing, wasn't it?!?! I'm still smiling, two days later! There were so many fantastic moments that made Saturday great! I thought it would be fun to share a few of them here. So, without further ado:
10. Our school bus arrived early, and our bus driver was super nice!
9. This photo:
I love that when I ask for an in-the-water photo, they all hug up and squish in.
8. AW-K lead the way with team spirit and included every single team in their cheers:
7. Seeing everyone representing AW-K in their new parkas. The new parkas looked awesome up on the podiums!
6. Marching out with the captains and seniors and seeing our entire fan base wearing Star Wars masks! So fun!!!
5. The fact that almost every girl swam a best time (or was right on top of a best time) even though we were untappered, unshaved, and wore our Tuesday suits.
4. Watching our girls overcome some unexpected obstacles like completely stuffed noses and ripped swimsuits.
3. The big smiles I saw when the girls discovered they swam a best time.
2. This final result:
1. Working together as a team to finish in 4th place in the FVA. Every single swim mattered. Every single swim made a difference. You did it! TOGETHER. I'm so proud!
Way to go, ladies! Saturday's meet was one I will never forget!
On to Sectionals!!
Succeed on Purpose,
Coach Vicki

A Few More Thank Yous
Hi Team,
I've got a few last thank yous to say before we wrap up the season.
Our last team meal was a HUGE success. The Bevers, Sunke, DeBroux, and Schueppert families served a Mexican feast, and the girls went crazy! They ate every single bit of the taco meat and pretty much everything else, too. :) Way to go, dinner team! The girls loved your meal! Thank you so much!
Thursday night Hannah's family hosted the Conference dinner in their home. It was amazing! They invited the whole team, and pretty much everyone was able to come. It was so great to have everybody together to share a meal away from the pool. Thank you, Wellhouse/Beckwith family! We all love, love, loved the fabulous Victoria's meal! Thank you for opening up your home to the team. It was a special night for everyone!
I'm so thankful for all the amazing families who support our team!
Coach Vicki
